Radio Hafren has the ‘Edge’

03/01/2011 @ 10:48

A familiar face, or rather voice, has returned to the airwaves of Montgomeryshire after Steve Edge joined the newly formed Radio Hafren as its first DJ.

Steve (right) first joined Radio Maldwyn six months after it launched in 1993 and spent nine years as one of its most popular presenters. And following stints at Radio Ceredigion and Sunshine in Ludlow, he has returned to familiar ground.

“We are delighted to have Steve with us as the listeners will be familiar with the name and the voice,” said Radio Hafren’s new co-owner Tom Pain. “He has joined us as a volunteer to help to get us up and running and will do the Breakfast Show from 7-11.

“It has been a very tough week since we took over but we are starting to get there. We hope to have our license from Ofcom early in the New Year so we can broadcast to full strength again.”

Mr. Pain is a director at Wrights Radio Relay which provides cable television to more than 1,000 Newtown customers.

Radio Hafren is broadcasting on the 756 MW frequency and also through its online service which the new owners said will enjoy a better quality early in the New Year.

The station can be contacted direct on 01686 623555.
