Nationwide hit by 'massive' overnight raid

Newtown’s Nationwide is believed to have been raided overnight with a ‘massive’ amount of cash stolen, mynewtown understands.

Police have cordoned off the Building Society this morning and it appears the front door has been smashed.

One man, who asked not to be named, said that he had been told unofficially on the scene that tens of thousands of pounds have been taken in what is described as a "massive" raid.

The robbery is believed to have happened in the early hours and as soon as we have confirmation from the police, mynewtown will report the full details.
