Severn Trent restores services to Newtown

17/12/2010 @ 10:55

Severn Trent reconnected the hundreds of Newtown homes that were left without water by about 11pm last night.
The company sent out an emergency team after parts of Vaynor, Maesyrhandir and other estates were left without supply.
It is believed a fault was identified where the water comes from the reservoir.
Newtown Mayor Cllr Joy Jones was one of the residents that faces a frustrating time trying to get through on the emergency numbers provided by the company.
“I eventually got through after being on hold for an hour!” she said. “Residents were worried but thankfully they managed to get a team out to where the problem was and get it fixed. The water was back on by about 11pm.”
Earlier this week, Severn Trent asked residents to only contact the emergency number if there are widespread problems and that individual house pipe freezes are not their responsibility and were clogging up the lines.
