WATER LATEST: Severn Trent on their way

Severn Trent has just confirmed that it has dispatched an emergency team to Newtown.

Hundreds of households have been without water and heating tonight on the Vaynor Estate and worried residents have been unable to reach the company on their jammed emergency lines.

Town Mayor Cllr Joy Jones has managed to reach the company and has some reassuring news for residents.

"After an hour, I finally got through and they have assured me that a team is on its way to try and identify and then fix the problem so hopefully we will have some water and heating tonight," she said.
