Do you know where your child is?

Police will be keeping a close eye on children in Newtown town centre over Christmas.

Dyfed-Powys Police will be running high-visibility foot patrols over the festive period to identify and protect potentially vulnerable children, who are in the town centre during late evening.

Officers will direct the children home, ask their parents to collect them or take them to a place of safety.

Inspector Paul Ridley who devised the initiative said: “This strategy is part of our commitment to ensure that all members of the community receive an appropriate duty of care.

“With the Christmas party season upon us our towns will be getting busier with revellers, which can sometimes lead to anti-social behaviour. Therefore, we will be targeting children aged between 11-17 years old, who are congregating in town centres and ensuring their safety – make sure we don’t pick up your child."
