Getting rid of pests (partners not included!)?

10/12/2010 @ 11:45

Powys County Council has announced that its reduced rates for pest control will end in the New Year.
The Council's Board agreed to remove half-price concessionary rates for nuisance pests in October because of the difficulties in verifying entitlement and to bring Powys into line with other Welsh authorities.
A spokesperson for the county council said: “The decision only affects nuisance pest like wasps, hornets and fleas, and will mean that half price treatment will no longer be available to those receiving state pensions and means tested benefits.
“Our free service for all households for the eradication of rats, mice and cockroaches in the home will not be affected by the move.”
Prices for the work will also increase as a result of the new 20 per cent VAT rate. The rates will be:
-       £43.32 for wasp / hornet treatment &
-       £43.32 per visit for flea & bedbug treatments
