Llani Road resurfacing won’t cost taxpayer

Motorists using the Newtown-Llanidloes Road have been shaking their heads this past week after suffering traffic misery caused by resurfacing of a road that was only done last year.

Workers returned to the road between Llandinam and Caersws, just 14 months after finishing the initial job, but tax payers have been assured that it won’t be costing them a penny due to the initial job using sub standard materials.

A spokesperson for the Trunk Roads Agency said. “The cost will be covered by the contractor, not by the taxpayer. The original work was showing signs of decay already and after closely monitoring the road, the decision was made that it had to be redone.”
