Police launch Operation BANG

04/11/2010 @ 07:25
Dyfed Powys Police are joining forces with the local fire authorities to ask locals to ‘Be A Nice Guy’ this bonfire night in Operation B.A.N.G.
Assistant Chief Constable Nick Ingram said: “It makes sense for us all to work together to ask the same question with one voice as both Police and Fire see an increase in calls for service at this time of year.
“We want to provide the best service possible for each of our communities and having a joint message and a joined up tactical Operation is one way we can do this.
“Posters are available from local officers with messages that are appropriate to the different type of incidents we see.
“We know that instances of anti social behaviour can increase at this time of year and some communities can suffer more than others. Also fireworks in the wrong hands can cause misery as they are used to damage property as well as threaten or injure people.”

Communities and Partnerships Sergeant Kelvin Briggs added: “In order to reassure our residents we will be increasing patrols during the evening in various communities to enable us to react quickly to anyone who uses bonfire night as an excuse to commit anti-social behaviour.”
