New jobs welcomed at clearance store

New jobs are expected to be created through the expansion of the Littlewoods Clearance Store in Newtown.

It is understood the store has expanded at the Pryce Jones building and will be creating four new jobs when it re-opens the extended store this Saturday.

Newly elected County Councillor Joy Jones welcomed the news: "This is great news for the town to see a store doing well in a difficult time. I really wish them well and hope more stores are able to follow their lead."

The news comes after Poundstretcher relocated from the Pryce Jones store in Kerry Road to the former Focus DIY store in Pool Road. The Blockbuster DVD store in High Street will close this weekend, although local business Fuze revealed through MyNewtown last week that it will begin renting DVDs from this weekend.
