Accident causes traffic lights black-out

Had the Welsh Government finally come to its senses and started turning off the lights in preparation for the return of a roundabout at the Kerry Road junction? No, a vehicle had collided with a lamp-post resulting the lights being switched off.

The accident happened in the early hours of yesterday and police temporarily closed the road while Powys County Council staff made the damaged lamp-post safe before removing it. However, the traffic lights remian out of action.

MyNewtown reader Paul Williams grabbed this photo while on his way to work. He said it looked like a vehicle had hit the post which was bent and dangerously positioned over the road.
