A vigil was held in Newtown on Saturday calling for "an immediate ceasefire" in Gaza.

Members and supporters of Montgomeryshire Palestine Solidarity Campaign / Ymgyrch Cefnogi Palesteina Maldwyn held the vigil outside the former Barclays Bank at The Cross in the town centre.
"The vigil included the reading out of some of the names of the babies killed in Gaza by Israeli military action and some present held photographs of a few of the 6000 plus children known to have been killed," said a group spokesperson.
The vigil came as the temporary ceasefire between Israel and Gaza came to an end.
PSC Branch Chair, Kathy Brooks, introduced the reading out of the names and she called for an immediate ceasefire leading to a political settlement which would enable Palestinians to have peace, equality, justice and self determination.
The vigil was the latest vigil organised by Montgomeryshire PSC over the past weeks, Previous vigils were organised in Machynlleth, Llanidloes, Llanfyllin and Welshpool.
