A walk through Newtown as part of the White Ribbon movement took place in Newtown over the weekend.

The walk as part of a campaign to end violence from men against women was organised by Powys County Council as part of similar walks in Welshpool and other towns.

Cllr Matthew Dorrance, Powys County Council’s Deputy Leader and one of its White Ribbon Lead Ambassadors, said: “I would also like to encourage men and boys in Powys to make the White Ribbon promise to never commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women and girls, which can be done online on the White Ribbon UK website."

A stand was set up in the Bear Lanes shopping centre on Saturday to make shoppers aware of the White Ribbon movement. It was supported by the Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre.
