Newtown fireworks display still on

The annual Newtown Fireworks Display is still due to go ahead on Friday as many others are being cancelled due to the anticipated bad weather.

The event organised by Newtown Rotary Club is due to take place at 7pm at Newtown Football Club's Latham Park ground.

It comes as similar events in Welshpool and at Meifod have been cancelled.

The Newtown display normally attracts hundreds of spectators and raises money for the Rotary Club's good causes.
