New business grant scheme set to be launched

Newtown businesses could soon be able to tap into financial help from a new grant scheme.

It is understood Powys County Council is on the verge of launching a small business grant.

Cllr David Selby, who is a Newtown town councillor as well as county council Cabinet Member with Responsibility for a More Prosperous Powys, told colleagues at a town council meeting this week that such a scheme would be laiunched soon.

"It will help up and coming businesses," he said.

It is understood an official announcement will be made in the next few weeks.
