New bridge construction is on schedule

Construction of the pedestrian and cycling river crossing in Newtown is on schedule, a county councillor has said.

Powys county councillor Joy Jones told town councillors on Monday night that she had been assured work on the crossing was underway and would be on time.

"There is quite a way to go," she said.

The work will link Pool Road and Lower Canal Road for pedestrians and cyclists. It is being constructed by Powys County Council with funding from the Welsh Government.
