Play equipment at Newtown Town Council play areas are "male dominated", councillors have been told.

The town council, which looks after several play areas around the town, is currently undertaking a review of the provisions and priorities. Many of them have been funded by Section 106 money which is provided by the developers of housing where the parks are located.

Members of the council's Services Committee were told by a council officer that the review would need to take into account the type of play equipment provided as it was believed some of the existing equipment was "male dominated."

Among the high priority recommendations made as part of the review was the provision of a play park in the Llanlwwchaiarn area, improve the Plantation Lane play park, improve the road crossing in Llanllwchaiarn by working with Powys County Council, and improve Active Travel routes on Milford Road.

Medium priorities were a review of play facilities at the Northside Community Hall and Sycamore Drive areas.

Councillors agreed to the recommendations.
