2,000 tulips will help brighten up the town

Newtown will be blooming with 2,000 tulips next spring.

The town council has ordered the tulips as part of its investment in maintaining areas of the town centre.

The council's services committee was told the bulbs would be planted soon and would compliment daffodils already planted.

It comes after the committee asked for perennials to be planted in the Severn Square area, although professional advice is being sought to ensure the right plants are planted under tree areas there.
