Plans for two houses to be built in Carno have been lodged with Powys County Council.
The application, by Neil Davies of Hutte Hause ltd intends building two, three-bedroom houses at land off Post Office Lane which is the garden of a nearby property called Tŷ Mawr.
The plans show that parking will be provided at both plots for three cars each.
Previous plans for a bigger development of up to four houses on the site, lodge last year was withdrawn due to part of the site being in a flood zone.
Carno community council has asked for “clarity” the status of the proposal and made “strong objections” when the plans were for four houses.
Agent, Phillip Humphreys explains the proposal in a design and access statement.
Mr Humphreys said: “The present scheme avoids any development within the flood zone.
“The application is located at the South end of Post Office Lane at the point where it is closed off from the A470.
“The site is within walking distance of the village centre and its amenities.”
Mr Humphreys explained that the site measures 665 square metres and around 200 square metres is in a flood zone.
Due to this access to plot one will be off the south end of Post Office Lane and plot two will be off Maes y Llan.
Mr Humphreys said: “Separate access points have been proposed in order to avoid entering the flood zone within the site.”
The site is well suited for housing, within an existing residential area at the heart of the village.
“It is believed that the provision of small homes on this site will provide appropriate accommodation for this area of Carno.
“They will be available for sale on the open market and the site is close to the primary school and local facilities and there are bus services for children attending Newtown and Llanidloes High Schools.”
He added that the development would “benefit” the local economy.
“The development of this site for residential use will benefit the local economy.”
A decision on the application is expected by July 7.
