04/05/2022 @ 07:40
Residents in Newtown are being invited to learn more about dementia as part of a visiting training bus.

Dementia Friendly Newtown has arranged for the special bus to be in Newtown as part of Dementia Action Week which takes place between 16-22 May.

"As part of Dementia Action Week this year, Dementia Friendly Newtown has arranged for the Virtual Dementia Training Bus to be in Morrison's car park in Newtown on Monday 16 May," said Andrea Blayney of Dementia Friendly Newtown.

"The bus is used to give a virtual experience of what living with dementia might be like so that people can gain a better understanding of what people living with dementia might go through and why they might behave in the way that they do.

"We want to offer this opportunity to members of the public and anyone who knows or cares for someone living with dementia.  There will be no charge for taking the virtual tour, which will last about 10-15 minutes."

The Virtual Dementia bus will be at Morrison's car park in Newtown on Monday, 16th May between 9.30a and 16.30am.

"The short virtual tour, which lasts about 10-15 minutes, is an opportunity to understand what people living with dementia might experience and gain an understanding of why they might behave in the way that they do," she added.

Book a slot in advance or turn up on the day.
