A theatre company is expected to be given permission to stage an outdoor performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Newtown's St Mary's Church.
Newtown Town Council has been asked by a private theatre company if the churchyard in the town centre can be used for a performance on 3 August 2022.
The Dukes Theatre Company is planning a tour of the UK staging outdoor performances of Shakespeare's well-known play.
On Thursday night the town council's Economy and Environment Committee will be asked to consider the proposal.
"A cast of six actor musicians perform Shakespeare’s most famous and magical comedy -A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The performance is the full, original text," said a report to the council from the theatre company.
"The production is executed to industry leading standards in all aspects including design, musicianship, and performance of a classical text. The event is accessible to all ages and tastes."
The council could receive up to £1,400 in commission for the performance through a deal.
