Dial-a-Ride gets green electric help

04/04/2022 @ 08:21
An electric car provided by a not-for-profit electric hire service is helping Newtown Dial a Ride get elderly and disabled residents to GP and hospital appointments.

The use of fully electric vehicles has been made possible by TripTo, a community led, non-profit electric car hire service based in Newtown. Working with Open Newtown, the Tripto is enabling community access via via green transport.

The organisation has recently received funding from the Welsh Government to provide extra support to deal with the significant winter transport pressures. So as well as providing low-cost green transport for local people, it is is now also able to provide EV’s to some local charities and the voluntary sector free of charge.

Stephen Evans, the Manager at Dial a Ride said: “We are so grateful to TripTo for providing us with an electric car, especially now petrol and diesel prices are so high. The cars are great to drive and very quiet which makes it much easier to hold a conversation with our passengers. Some of our passengers are now requesting that we pick them up in the electric car.”
