Quilters get ready to show off their work

30/03/2022 @ 07:28
Two quilt exhibitions will take alongside each other in Llanidloes later in April.

The Welsh Heritage Quilters Exhibition takes place between 9-23 April at the Minerva Arts Centre with the theme "20:20 Visions."

Because the 2020 exhibition had to be cancelled due to Covid, organisers will now host what should have been that exhibition alongside the 2022 one entitled Time Well Spent.

"The theme of “20:20 Visions” inspired several themes ranging from traditional wholecloth designs to the Jazz Age and Sashiko," said Ann Edwards.

"There will be a varied range of exhibits, both large and small and some will be in response to a suggested theme.

"One of these themes is 'Long and Lean', where members were asked to make a wall hanging of a specific size and using a shape and colour pulled at random from a 'lucky dip' – the results are amazing."

The Time Well Spent exhibition is based on quilts made during lockdown.

The exhibitions will take place between 10 and 4pm with an official launch on Saturday, 9 April at 10.

"Welsh Heritage Quilters meets every Wednesday afternoon from 2-4pm in The Minerva Arts Centre, Llanidloes," said Ann.

"Our members range from complete beginners to those with many years experience in patchwork and quilting. Our afternoons often include demonstrations from members as well as visiting speakers but sometimes we just meet to sew, chat and share a cup of tea! We are always happy to help each other, swapping ideas and sharing techniques. If you would like to join the group you can be sure of a warm welcome."
