Man snatches 12 gold rings from store

Police have issued CCTV images of a man they want to question in connection with the theft of 12 gold rings worth thousands of pounds from a jewellery shop in Market Street, Newtown.

The man is understood to have walked into Woodroffe's Jewellers and taken the rings from a tray at 2.50pm yesterday afternoon, according to police.

“We’d like to speak with a man seen in the CCTV pictures,” said Detective Constable Gemma Rees. “He was seen entering the shop and we’d like to speak with him in relation to the theft.

“In the meantime if anyone has information on this theft I’d ask them to please contact police in Newtown on 101 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
