Garden waste service ends in a few weeks

15/11/2021 @ 11:00
There are just weeks left to go for the last collections of garden waste from homes in Newtown.

Powys County Council will end its 2021 garden waste collection service in the first week of December before starting it again in March 2022.

Subscriptions for the 2022 service will be open in February, with the services resuming in early March.

Cllr Heulwen Hulme, Cabinet Member for Recycling and Waste, said: “Many of us are really busy in the gardens at this time of year. Tidying up after the summer and getting things prepared for spring. So, we are keen to remind our residents to make the most of the last few remaining garden waste collections of 2021.

“So far this year, with the help of participating households, more than 4,000 tonnes of garden waste have been collected and recycled into compost

“Of course, while the service takes its winter break, you can still recycle your garden waste by composting it at home or by taking it to one of the five household waste and recycling centres in Powys.”
