Volunteer recruitment campaign begins

A campaign to recruit volunteers to help local community groups, charities and organisations has been launched.

The initiative is being part funded by Newtown Town Council.

The council has been working with Ponthafren, PAVO and the Newtown Network on the project.

A volunteer development officer has now been appointed to lead the project. They will lead on recruiting a team of volunteers to help support organisations who require them and provide details of opportunities available to those looking to become volunteers.

A town council spokesperson said: “Volunteers can help to keep important services going, by offering their time and skills to help the community and without them things would look very different. Volunteering can also be very rewarding, as well as offering new skills, gaining confidence, meeting people and being active in your community. 

"The reinstalment of a volunteer service within Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn is positive proof that with external and internal support, Newtown Network can initiate, co-ordinate and deliver on community action. Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council are proud to be an active part in the programme."
