Fresh appeal for lorry driver witness

23/08/2011 @ 11:59

Police have renewed their appeal for a lorry driver who might have seen two vehicles involved in a fatal accident near Newtown to contact them.

Martin Gittins, 52, of Minsterley died when his motorcycle and a car were involved in an accident on the A483 near Dolfor last Wednesday (17 August). At the time police asked for the driver of a lorry who might have seen both vehicles to come forward to help with their investiations.

Today, police renewed that plea and said they believe the lorry had a white cab and was carrying straw. It was heading towards Dolfor at the time of the accident at 8.20pm.

“The lorry was carrying straw or hay bales and was heading in the direction of Dolfor,” said Inspector Mark Davies, of the Dyfed-Powys Police Mid Wales Roads Policing Unit. “It is very important that we identify this driver, as we believe he has seen both the car and the bike.”

Mr Gittins was driving a Suzuki GSXR 600 motorcycle and the driver of the other vehicle was in a blue Ford Puma.

Anyone with information can contact PC Marcus Wright at Newtown police station on 101.
