Newtown's Remembrance Parade will return in full on Sunday, 14 November.

After last year's parade was cancelled and the ceremony at the town's cenotaph was toned down due to coronavirus, the town council and Royal British Legion have confirmed Armistice Day on 11 November and Remembrance Sunday events will return in full.

The Poppy Appeal has already begun with a poppy shop set up in Bears Lane.

Armistice Day is on Thursday and a short ceremony will be held at the cenotaph with the Mayor and councillors representing the community, along with RBL members and veterans.

School pupils will be outside the memorial gardens. They will also lay wreaths.

The public can attend, although live streaming of the event will also be held to allow others to watch via the internet.

The two minutes silence will take place at 11am, with a service starting at 10.40am.

On Sunday, 15 November, the Civic Parade, led by the town council, will start at the Monty Club in Broad Street, meeting at 10am and departing at 10.15am, before heading to the town's cenotaph.

At 10.50am a wreath will be laid by the Mayor, Cllr Richard Williams, before other organisations.

A two minutes silence will take place at 11am.
