Church expected to go purple for World Polio Day

The lights at St Mary's Church in Newtown could be turned purple later this week.
The town council has been asked by Newtown Rotary Club is the lights can be switched to the colour on the evening on 24 October to mark World Polio Day.
Buildings and lights around the world will be lit up purple on the day.
The council's Resources Committee is expected to agree to the request at a meeting on Monday evening.
