Council to reach young people through Instagram

Newtown Town Council will soon reach the 21st century with its own Instagram account in an attempt to reach younger people.

It follows advice from the council's new Youth Representative.

"The Youth Representative and Mentor have identified that the Town Council can better engage with young people via increased use of social media –in particular by setting up and using a Town Council Instagram account," a report to the council states.

"The intention is for both officers and Youth Representatives to create content for the Instagram account. Officers would manage the publishing of all content."
