Getting back to nature with creative workshops

25/07/2021 @ 09:53
A series of wildlife creative workshops are to take place in Newtown and throughout the area over the coming weeks to help children get to know more about nature.

Part of the Stand for Nature project, Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust, along with its counterpart in Radnorshire, is holding the workshops at venues throughout the area.

"As part of the Stand for Nature Wales project, Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire Wildlife Trusts have been working hard behind the scenes to pull together a series of creative workshops with a nature twist," said a wildlife trust spokesperson.

The trusts are delivering free creative workshops to children from 9 to 24 years old.

"These workshops offer a unique opportunity for children to embrace their creative side whilst also learning about nature and our climate. Kicking off in Llandrindod Wells, attendees can expect a film-making master class, some improvisation and nature-inspired painting," added the spokesperson.

Events include Wild Ideas in Llanidloes on 28 July; Newtown on 16 August, and Welshpool on 18 August.

Fay Morris, Stand for Nature Wales Trainee Project Officer at Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust, said: “We’re really looking forward to seeing what the young people create with the fantastic artists and practitioners. We hope that through the workshops, people will explore new ways of understanding and communicating issues of climate change and nature, as well as exploring their creative side."

Stand for Nature Wales is a youth climate change project delivered by the Wildlife Trusts in Wales.

It aims to empower and inspire young people to take action for nature and wildlife in their local area in a bid to tackle climate change. Through this vital project, the Wildlife Trusts in Wales are amplifying young voices and giving young people the skills and tools to deliver climate action in their local area. The project has been made possible by the players of the National Lottery.

If your child is a nature enthusiast with a creative flair these workshops are not to be missed. Numbers are limited, so early booking is recommended. You can book via the Radnorshire Wildlife Trusts event pages: https://www.rwtwales.org/events.
