Violet honoured with BEM

A Montgomery woman has been recognised for her services to adults with learning difficulties by being included on the Queen's Birthday Honour’s List.

Violet Ann Mclellan is Assistant Day Services Manager at Castell-y-Dail, Newtown, a Powys County Council run facility that provides vital support for those with learning difficulties to find suitable long term employment.

Violet picks up a Medal of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) and is one of a number of Welsh people on the list that included a knighthood for legendary Welsh actor, Jonathan Pryce, and an MBE for former Welsh rugby player, Ryan Jones.

This summer’s recipients include several health, care and ambulance workers who are recognised for their work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
