Visitor and shopper plans move forward

04/05/2021 @ 08:00
A range of projects to encourage more shoppers and visitors to Newtown will be discussed by councillors today.

Newtown Town Council has been spearheading a number of tourism and marketing projects.

Some began before the coronavirus pandemic as part of work promoting the town after the opening of the road bypass.

Work has continued on the 'Finding a New Route' and 'Discover Newtown.' Discussions have also taken place over the location of the town's Tourism Information Centre.

It is currently housed at Brisco House, home of the town council at The Cross in Broad Street.

However, there are place to relocate it to the new riverside centre being constructed at the Back Lane car park.

The town council's Economy and Environment Committee will be updated on the plans at their meeting tonight.
