Man dies in bypass accident

A man has died after a serious road accident involving a lorry carrying sheep and another vehicle on the Newtown bypass.

Police said a 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which happened at 6.30pm on Sunday.

The lorry driver received minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

It is not know how many sheep were injured.

Both lanes of the bypass between the Llanidoes Road and Dolfor Road roundabouts have been closed.

The road will remain closed this morning while police investigate the accident.

Newtown Police has appealed for any motorists who witnessed the accident to call them on 101.
