Acquisition of red phone box nearly complete

An update on Newtown Town Council taking over the Back Lane red telephone kiosk will be given to councillors tonight.

The town council is in the final throws of taking over the BT kiosk as part of a scheme to find alternative uses for such historic telephone boxes.

It is understood the council plans to use the kiosk to house a defibrillator.

A verbal update will be given to the council's Economy and Environment Committee during its meeting.
