Charges could be reintroduced at Newtown's toilets

Charges could be reintroduced at Newtown's two public toilets.

Several spates of vandalism at the Gravel toilets in Shortbridge Street have cost Newtown Town Council. It is understood damage has also been caused at the Back Lane toilets.

The town council's services committee will discuss the matter this evening.

It is understood it was proposed to reintroduce charges which had been abolished by the council. The move would mean the toilets are not open to anyone just walking in, such as vandals.

They are likely to ask the council's Operations Manager to report back on the possibility.
