Monty Lit Fest to go online for second year

06/04/2021 @ 11:09

Montgomeryshire Literary Festival 2021 will go online for the second year.

In a statement released by the Trustees last night, it was explained that the event would move online in order to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved.

“With great regret, we can confirm that Monty Lit Fest 2021 will not be going ahead as planned in Montgomery,” the statement reads.

“As the summer roadmap out of lockdown is still unclear, we cannot continue to plan for a physical festival, and our top priority is the safety of visitors, authors and the community of Montgomery.

“Instead of a physical Monty Lit Fest, we are excited to announce that we will still be celebrating great writing from June 10-12 with three virtual events. These panel discussions held on Zoom will be free to anyone around the world to attend, with voluntary contributions to Monty Lit Fest very much appreciated.

“We have a fantastic line-up of authors who have kindly agreed to take part in these events. To find out more please check our website on April 11 or follow us on social media.

“And, in a happy incidence of third time lucky, we very much hope to return to Montgomery in June 2022 and will have an action-packed programme in place. Watch this space!”

For any enquiries, contact Sarah Morris, Chair of Monty Lit Fest, at chair@montylitfest.com.

Most of the summer shows have already been cancelled and, last month, Welshpool’s annual Country & Western Festival also conceded defeat to Covid-19.
