Charity thanks shoppers for Easter egg donations

A local charity has thanked shoppers at Newtown's Morrisons for donating 50 Easter eggs.

Newtown-based charity Kaleidoscope, which supports people and families struggling with drug and alcohol use, received the eggs this week.

Morrisons matched community donations, meaning the children of families getting Kaleidoscope’s support will receive two Easter eggs each.

Emily Reeves, Kaleidoscope Newtown Team Leader, said: "We can’t wait to get all 100 Easter eggs into the community, many families have struggled more throughout the pandemic, having faced unemployment, reduced wages or illness. The kindness of Newtown’s community will no doubt bring a much needed smile to these families in what are still tough times."

Jenny Cook, Morrison’s Community Champion, said: "It’s so rewarding to support community causes such as this, we’re grateful for the kindness of our customers and wish families in Newtown have a very happy Easter.’’

Kaleidoscope’s Newtown base, on Severn square, supports more than 120 people.

If you, or someone you know, is struggling with drug or alcohol issues, please get in touch with Kaleidoscope by visiting their website at www.kaleidoscopeproject.org.uk or calling 01686 610 422.
