More than 55,300 people in the area have now received their first Covid-19 vaccine, it has emerged.
Last night Powys Teaching Health Boar said its vaccination programme had reached 70,000, with 15,300 people receiving their second vaccination.
Despite concern over the supply of the vaccinations as announced by the NHS yesterday, the health board said it was on track and is this week focussing on Priority Group 6 who are those with underlying health conditions and unpaid carers, as well as Group 7, those aged 60 to 64.
"We also have a lot of second dose vaccinations to deliver this week. Already over half of people in Priority Groups 1 and 2 have received their second dose, and we currently have the highest rates in Wales for double dose protection," said Carol Shilabeer, Chief Executive of the health board.
"Here in Powys we have been closely following the national priority order in our invitations. In a vaccination programme of this scale there will always be some overlap, but I hope people will find it reassuring to see such high rates of vaccination in Priority Groups 5 and 6, as we now begin invitations to Priority Group 7."
The health board is starting to issue invitations for priority groups 8 and 9 - 55-59-year-olds and 50-54-year-olds.
