More than 50,000 vaccinated so far

More than 50,400 first vaccine doses have been given in the area and 5,600 second doses, it has emerged.

It comes as the number of positive Covid-19 in Newtown increased by 13 in the seven days between 19 and 25 February, bringing the total to 332.

Newtown still has one of the highest number of cases per population in the area, although the figures have eased off in the past week.

Over 80% of people aged 65 to 69 have now been vaccinated in the area, with invitations going out this week to the remainder of those in the age group.

Last week invitations went out to adults with underlying health conditions.

Invitations for people aged 50 to 64 will start to go out later this month.
