'Discover Newtown' plan to move forward

Plans to promote Newtown to visitors will take a step forward this week with town councillors considering a new brand for the town.
Newtown Town Council is progressing with its plans to create a 'Discover Newtown' brand that will highlight the area's tourism and business opportunities.
The plan had been set up before the coronavirus situation, although it is now seen as an important step to help the town recover from the Covid-19 situation in the future.
On Thursday, a meeting of the town council's Economy and Environment Committee will meet two companies bidding to undertake branding for the project.
The meeting, which will be held in private for commercial reasons, will also discuss the budget for the project.
The branding will be used to promote the town locally and nationally in an attempt to attract visitors and shoppers.
