Bike tracks and jumps have damaged one of the area's nature reserve, with police now investigating criminal damage.

Dyfed Powys Police today confirmed it is investigating damage to trees and and removal of soil to make way for bike tracks and jumps at Dolforwyn Nature Reserve, near Abermule.

"Over the last few months trees have been damaged and soil removed to make bike tracks and jumps," said a police spokesperson.

"Police would like to remind the public that this area is a nature reserve and home to many species of birds and animals.

"Cycling on the main paths is welcomed at the reserve however please refrain from causing damage to the habitat in the area by making new trails."

The nature reserve is owned and managed by the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust.
