Web help for local businesses in lockdown

21/01/2021 @ 08:29
A local enterprise hub has launched a workshop to help businesses in the area improve their online presence.

As many businesses in Newtown and north Powys have turned to online sales as a result of the coronavirus lockdown, Focus Newtown Enterprise Hub has launched a three-part virtual workshop series to help businesses create their own website.

"2020 was a difficult year for businesses and startups alike. With constant changes to the work environment, now more than ever, it’s important for businesses to think about their online presence and find other ways of reaching potential customers," said a statement.

Focus Newtown Enterprise Hub has teamed up with Tramshed Tech to launch a three-day online course, focused on building a clear and informative website.

The series is aimed at those specifically in Powys, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, and Ceredigion, and will run from 2nd – 4th February, 2021.

“Last year, we heard from business owners who were looking to maintain their brand online. Although we held several smaller workshops on building a website, we decided it would be more beneficial to hold a week-long series where people can really focus on their website and what they need to do in order to launch online,” said Angharad Harding, Hub Manager at Focus Carmarthen Enterprise Hub.

Branded ‘Website Week’ the series will be made up of six online workshops on how to plan, build, market and measure the success of a website. By the end of the series, attendees should fully understand the development and process, as well as how to maintain a website once it has launched.

Jess Phillips, Enterprise Innovation Manager at Tramshed Tech, said: “Website Week has been created after an increasing demand from new startups looking for ways to expand their business. We hope that by the end of the series, more Welsh businesses and startups will feel comfortable in taking their business to the next level.”

“We’re really looking forward to running this series of workshops in partnership with Focus Carmarthen Enterprise Hub and Tramshed Tech. It will give smaller businesses and startups the chance to look at how moving online can help to develop and grow their business,” said Holly Jones, Hub Manager at Focus Newtown Enterprise Hub.

Spaces on these sessions are fully funded, and you can register online by searching‘Focus Newtown Enterprise Hub’ on Business Wales Event Finder.
