Cycle store targeted by thieves in daylight

Thieves have stolen two mountain bikes from Brooks Cycles in Newtown in broad daylight, the second such theft from the store this year.

It is understood the thieves broke into the store by the Ladywell Shopping Centre between 10.30am and 12noon yesterday. Owner Tony Brooks said a Giant Amthem and a Giant Talon were stolen during the break-in. It's understood they're valued at several thousand pounds in total.

The Giant Amthem (similar to the one pictured left) and the Giant Talon (similar to the one pictured right) are quite distinctive, according to Mr Brooks who urged anyone with informaton or who is offered such a bike to contact the police.
