Mum and son launch Christmas toys appeal

A local mother and son have launched their annual appeal to help collect Christmas presents for the Newtown-based Montgomery Family Crisis Centre.

Sarah Voice and her son Harry have collected new toys from people locally for the past couple of years before donating them all to the centre to pass on to children.

They want unwrapped new toys and gifts for children of all ages. They are also shared with the Salvation Army in Newtown and the Llanidloes Food Bank.

MyNewtown has previously reported on their efforts which have gone to help make Christmas a better time for many children in Newtown and Montgomeryshire.

Sarah and Harry, who live in Montgomery, launched their appeal today with several local businesses acting as points for collection of toys.

Sarah is a nurse at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

"I came across Montgomery Family Crisis Centre in Newtown and learnt about the  invaluable support they offer to men, women and children experiencing or affected by domestic abuse," said Sarah.

"Knowing that most families arrive with very little, I decided to try and collect and donate items every year. Due to the generosity show by the local public, the donations have grown each year.

"This year, more than ever, vulnerable families need our support. Again, I need your help. I'm collecting unwrapped new toys and gifts for children of all ages and adults. Each donation, no matter how small, is gratefully received."

The toys can be dropped off at:

Tesco Superstore, Newtown
Tesco Store, Welshpool
Ivy House Cafe and Post Office, Montgomery
The Talbot Hotel, Berriew
Morrisons Supermarket, Welshpool

Donations can be dropped off up to Saturday, 13 December.
