Preparations for Remembrance Service underway

Newtown residents are being reminded that this weekend's Remembrance Sunday commemoration at the Cenotaph will be live-streamed due to the lockdown situation.

A smaller than usual service will take place on Sunday, starting at 10.45am. Up to 30 people can participate under special guidelines set out by the Welsh Goverment.

The town council has already made arrangements with the Royal British Legion as to who is attending the service within the area, including representatives of the RBL, veterans, local councillors and others.

The service will be live-streamed on the town council's website and Facebook page.

The roads around the Cenotaph will also be closed to traffic for a short period between 10.55am and after the two minutes silence.
