Plaid select candidate for Montgomeryshire

Plaid Cymru has selected Elwyn Vaughan as its Montgomerysire candidate for Senedd elections next year.

The Powys county councillor will represents the Glantwymyn ward on the council.

He will also be on the regional list for Mid and West Wales for the party. 

Cllr Vaughan said: “Thank you for the support in being selected for Montgomeryshire and the Mid and West Wales list for Plaid Cymru. I want to be a positive voice for our rural communities. A strong voice right to Offa's Dyke, a voice for both non Welsh speakers and Welsh speakers alike and one that sees Montgomeryshire like a Celtic knot tying the rest of Wales together rather than be seen as a gap between North and South.”

Cllr Vaughan comes from a extensive farming family and as well as a Powys 

Cllr assists a mental health charity and a director of housing support charity in Newtown. 

He added: “The work of such charities is of importance to me, because politics at the end of the day is about making things better within our communities, in implementing your values in a positive way.”

“It'll be my privilege, with your support to do that, I ask all those with a commonality of mind and values to join with me in making the change in Montgomeryshire.”
