Council expected to extend Covid-19 grants

Newtown groups and charities involved in helping or supporting the local community during the coronavirus situation will be able to apply for funding from the town council.

The council is expected to approve an additional funding round of its Community Grant scheme when it meets tonight.

Groups that applied in May but might have been underfunded on their original application in May are expected to be invited to re-apply.

A proposal for Covid-19 related applications only, with a new threshold of £2,000 per grant, is expected to be approved with a deadline for application on 31 January 2021.
