Social housing scheme could be called Y Lawnt

Y Lawnt - The Green is the likely name to be given to the delayed social housing development at the former bowling green in Back Lane.

Powys County Council, which is developing the apartments on the site of one of the former greens, had asked Newtown Town Council to suggest their preferred name for the site once completed.

The town council has opted for Y Lawnt - The Green.

The development has been delayed for more than a year after the contractor due to build the scheme went into administration.

The county council is expected to confirm its choice of name shortly.
