Autumn 'Spring Clean' in Newtown

Residents in Newtown are being urged to help clean up their area in town as part of an Autumn 'Spring Clean.'

Householders can help by cleaning up areas on their doorstep as part of a county-wide project.

It comes after the Spring Clean Cymru event in March was postponed due to the coronavirus situation.

Now, Powys County Council is calling on residents and communities to do their bit and join in with a re-scheduled Autumn litter pick from 11-27 September.
 
To make sure everyone stays safe and well, we’re encouraging individuals and households to clean-up the streets, verges and parks on their doorstep.
 
It’s part of the Great British September Clean which will be happening across the UK at the same time.
 
It seems that, more than ever, people are recognising just how important a clean and safe environment is to their health and well-being. There’s also been a real sense of frustration at the increase in litter since restrictions have eased, much of which could easily have been recycled.
 
Autumn Clean Cymru is a chance for us all to take a stand and declare that litter is not acceptable.
 

“We know how much Powys communities care about the environment in our beautiful county, so we are delighted to be joining forces with Keep Wales Tidy again this year in a bid to encourage residents to join in with the Autumn Clean Cymru campaign," said Cllr Heulwen Hulme, Cabinet Member for Recycling and Waste. 

“Whether you do five minutes litter picking while walking the dog or five hours – every individual action can make a difference.”

2. Pledge to do your own individual clean-up.
