A protest by Extinction Rebellion protestors took place in Newtown.
The peaceful protest saw a group representing the environmental protest group stage their demonstration in the ton centre on Monday afternoon.
The group’s Newtown and Welshpool group wanted to highlight a range of issues affecting the planet.
According to Wikipedia, Extinction Rebellion (abbreviated as XR) was established in May 2018 with the stated aim of using non-violent civil disobedience to compel government action to avoid tipping points in the climate system, biodiversity loss, and the risk of social and ecological collapse.
The group held placards and urged others in the town to join them.
